A lesson isn’t complete until you know what not to do. Whatever has been said so far focuses on the affirmatives because only a positive person and a positive attitude can train a dog effectively. Even then, one is human and the tendency is to feel the frustration and let out the steam when the dog is not responding quickly to the housetraining
methods. Even then you have to be careful:

* Do not EVER hit your dog or abuse him or her physically in any way if there is a housebreaking accident.

* Do not EVER rub your dog’s nose in the mess to teach him a lesson. The dog has no idea that he has done something wrong and he himself can’t stand the messy stuff and just wants to get rid of it. By rubbing it in, he registers only the harshness of the punishment with you.

* Do not isolate your dog because he has made a mess inside. Dogs are family oriented and keeping them apart aggravates and disturbs them. The insecurity
that is caused by the isolation would also lead to more accidents.

* Do not change the diet during the housetraining sessions, unless there is a health issue that necessitates a change. A change in the diet might affect a change in the dog’s bladder and bowel movements.

* Do not leave the food bowl and the water bowl, lying around for the dog to have at any time of his or her choosing. Feed the dog according to a timetable and take away the food after 20 minutes. Whatever the dogs eats, in that time, is what his body needs.

* Do not allow the dog to roam around the house,
wherever he likes. Do not leave the dog unattended
—he would most likely sniff out corners and do his
job there without your knowledge.

If You’re Following these things then your dog gets trained efficiently and will be your friend of you soon .

4) Dogs, according to Pavlov, can be trained to a conditioned stimulus, which means they can be trained to eliminate in a particular spot and by repetition of certain words repeated over and over again.

Sometimes dogs just don’t do what you want them to and you might be at a total loss as to what to do next. Don’t despair—the aim of the Puppy potty training is two-fold:

1) It aims at preventing your pup from making mistakes.

2) It aims at establishing a routine that will slowly get
ingrained in the dog’s system.

Nowhere does it say that you have to force your dog to do your bidding. In fact you can’t. All you can do is prevent the undesirable potty behavior from happening and keep up the routine until the dog instinctively follows it. No amount of rubbing his nose in the carpet or beating his behind with a rolled up newspaper is going to help. It will only make the dog resent you, fear you, or both. This would result in the dog becoming defensive and not obeying you at all. Punishments backfire—so do not opt for it.

Instead, all you need to do is prevent the undesirable behavior by:

1) Not letting your dog run around the house unsupervised until he or she is housetrained. This will help to prevent the puddles in the corners and the pooped carpets as well as the chewed up slippers. You must understand the accidents are setbacks to the housetraining process because the accident sites are like magnets and make a dog repeat the actions there again. So no running around until the dog is trained.

2) Making sure that you keep the dog’s crate and his designated space in an area that has a tiled or linoleum floor, which can be easily cleaned—as in the kitchen.

3) Ensuring that the elimination spot is reachable and adjacent to the dog’s designated area.

4) Praising the desirable behavior of your dog because that makes him understand that this is the behavior that he would repeat to get the praise again.

5) The reason you can only teach your dog by establishing a routine to repeat again and again is because dogs really have no sense of what is desirable and what is not desirable. They can only be trained to learn what you like and what you don’t like.

Step 1:Get your puppy out of his crate

It is very important that you always follow the same path, use the same door, when accompanying your puppy to his elimination zone.
That’show you’ll teach your dog to ask you to go out or to go on his own to his toilet stop.

Step 2:Accompany him to his toiletstop.

Why do I want you to accompany your puppy? First, because since your
puppy is on leash and you can control his whereabouts,he won’t do anything else but get down to business.

Second,it is the only way for you to be sure that your dog has completely
emptied both “reservoirs”.Furthermore, since praise is an important step to your puppy’s house training success, you MUST be there to praise him when he does the right thing.

Step 3: DON’T say a word until he starts eliminating Shhhh…….

Until your puppy starts to eliminate, you won’t say a word. Some of youmay be thinking: “What does it change if I talk to my dog?” First, you don’t want him to get distracted. You brought him out for one purpose: eliminating.

Second, you don’t want to make one of the most common mistakes new owners make: If you were “thinking” like a dog,in other words associate an action with a consequence, here’s the conclusion you would arrive at:when we go out I get all the attention, but the minute I relieve myself,no more attention and back in the house. Dogs are smart, you know. They like the outdoors and would much prefer staying outside then going back in the house. The final result would be a dog that hol

ds it as long as he can so he can stay outside longer.

Step 4: Teaching your Dog to Go on Command

1. Bring your dog to his elimination zone or toiletstop.

2. Don’t say a word.Remember,if you talk and pay attention to him he’ll forget what he’s supposed to do.

3. The moment he starts to urinate or defecate, say your command word in a very soft tone of voice.

4. Once finished, praise your dog lavishly.

Step 5: Praise him like crazy for pooing at the rightplace.

Praises are extremely important when you’re housetraining your dog because that’s how he’ll know that he has done the right thing. Don’t hesitate to praise your dog with a“Goood boy” and “Goood girl” everytime your puppy does something you like.

Step 7:Play with your puppy a couple of minutes atleast.

Dogs like to play.Nothing makes them more happy than playing with you. If you play with your dog, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes,AFTER he has eliminated,he’ll relieve himself a lot faster.

Step 8:Bring your puppy back to his crate

Hmm Thats it! See the Magic From the Next Time, I bet your puppy will love to eliminate now.

Some owners call every treat, simply, a treat. Others use different words for different types of treats. Biscuit might be used for a commercial dog biscuit, while cookie might be used for a real cookie or cracker.

Biscuit Time

I like to establish a scheduled Biscuit Time. For example, right after breakfast. Dogs love patterns and quickly learn to look forward to Biscuit Time. In this expectant frame of mind, they are ready and willing to listen to their new word and to associate it with its tasty object.

There may be one disadvantage to a fixed Biscuit Time. Some dogs become too rigid about it. They start getting restless, pacing or whining or nudging you. They may even become upset if you’re late.

With such dogs, adhering to a schedule is NOT a good idea. Break them from the pattern by offering the biscuit at RANDOM times –one day in the morning, next day in the afternoon, next day in the evening.

With pattern-oriented dogs, occasionally skip the biscuit altogether. This makes them less expectant, and thus less stressed when everything doesn’t happen according to their expectations.

Now, what should you do at Biscuit Time?

Ask your dog, “Want a BISCUIT? Who wants a BISCUIT?
How about a BISCUIT?”

1) Proceed jauntily to the cupboard and take down the box. Rattle it and repeat with excitement, “Want a biscuit?”

2) Let your dog watch you take the biscuit out of the box. He may already be excited, but if this is your first time doing this, and he’s never had one from this box, he may not know what it is. You may need to hold it near his nose to give him the idea.

3) I should mention that there are some dogs who couldn’t care a fig about commercial dog biscuits. To get them excited, try a cheese cracker or oatmeal cookie.

Now the next time your dog is troublesome ask him “Want a Biscuit?” and see what happens!

4) Be prepared to take her out at all times.

5) Crate train your puppy.Dogs don’t like to potty inside their feeding place.

6) And make sure you’re watching your puppy’s actions after eating because this is one of the most likely times it’ll potty. If that happens be ready to take him outside.

7) Make sure that you take him outside once in the morning and once at late evening.

Make her potty on the same spot outside,so that it would be easy to train her, atleast in the beginning.

9) Treat your puppy with kindness

And remember you’ll have to do this only once till she gets trained and after that she does it on her own. Happy potty training

Does he notice when you smile at him? Does he interpret the smile as meaning you’re happy?

You’ll need:

Nothing but a relaxed, lying-down dog

Do the test:
1) Watch for a time when your dog is sitting or lying down, comfortable and relaxed, about eight feet away from you. You might be reading, or washing dishes, or working on your computer.

2) Don’t say or do anything to attract his attention. Just watch him from the corner of your eye. When he happens to look directly at you, look back at him and smile broadly — a huge exaggerated smile.

SCORING

If he comes to you happily…
Score 4

If he stays where he is, but wags his tail or barks at you…
Score 4

If he comes partway toward you, as though uncertain…
Score 3

If he stays where he is and looks alertly at you, clearly focused on your face, but not wagging his tail or making any sound…
Score 2

If he gets up and moves AWAY from you, as though he saw your facial expression but didn’t interpret it correctly…
Score 1. At least he noticed it.

If he pays no attention to your smile…
Score 0
